ACACIA Freedom from Pain

ACACIA Freedom from Pain

I  am Emma Kemp, and I run ACACIA Freedom from Pain, which is dedicated to helping people overcome chronic pain and other unwanted symptoms. We use the SIRPA (Stress Illness Recovery Practitioners’ Association) approach to help people overcome their symptoms and get their lives back.

Have you been searching for a cure but seen no breakthrough, and doctors can’t seem to help?

Did you know that addressing stress could be the key to your recovery from pain and illness?

Many people who are experiencing long-term pain have been told by medical practitioners that it is due to their age, or something they will have to learn to manage. However, pain and other unpleasant symptoms like IBS which go on for more than 12 weeks are often caused because our nerve pathways have learned to keep producing pain. The pain might have been triggered by an injury or a stressful event in the first place, but there is usually no physical reason for pain to go on for any longer than 12 weeks. This is more than enough time for the body to heal from any damage.

The good thing about this is that it is possible to teach our brains to stop using the pain pathways and to use pain-free pathways instead. The key ways we can do this are: to learn about how pain develops and sticks around, understand how we can change our body’s response to pain, and deal with the stress in our lives, both past and present. Stress releases a cocktail of chemicals into our bodies, which are life-saving in the right circumstances, but can have a negative impact if we are exposed to them long term.

The SIRPA approach we use at ACACIA Freedom from Pain is designed to help you recover at your own pace. It’s similar to coaching, in that the tools we use help you to set your own goals and work out what it is you need to do to achieve them.

Please do take a look at my website www.acaciafreedom.co.uk, where there is more information which explains the approach, the services I offer, and the impact of stress on pain. There is also a FAQ page, which may help to answer some of your questions.

If you are interested in receiving support, I am happy to offer a free, no obligation 15 minute telephone conversation so that you can decide whether you would like to have a full assessment. I work from The Cottage Therapy Centre in Kenilworth but also offer online sessions to those who cannot travel.
